eOregon Outlet

An eHistory eSource (my new blog to check out)

How often do you go online knowing what you want, where to find it, but can’t quite get there?

Just as students demonstrate a variety of learning styles, each web experience appeals to a certain demographic.

If a young professional grabs a chunk of history on his iPhone in a bite-size format, he’ll feel smart and find a way to get more.

If a retired lady with an iPad scans across graphics and titles that make her stop, she’ll find her way back to the source.

If a kid stops on a page showing his favorite state and hits the links, he’ll find plenty to examine.

The Outlet blog, supported by facebook and twitter updates, will drive history traffic.

Here’s why: The key element of successful social media is moving readers to doers.  Most bloggers use an event related to their blog.

The Oregon Historical Society is already an event place with great events.  The Outlet will push event attendance and the idea that OHS is a destination no matter the event.

While I don’t expect every blogger to climb out of their mother’s basement and head for the South Park Blocks, I do believe the blog reading, ebook reading, world is yearning for more.

As a PSU history major with an Oregon focus, I have the broth.  As an OHS employee of two decades, I have the seasoning.  As a published writer and dedicated blogger, I have the fiber.

A lifetime spent in Oregon with wife and kids adds flavor.
