The Right Stuff

DGsB&B runs by word of mouth that brings in people with their stuff.  Stuff on walls.  Stuff on mantels.  It’s practically a museum exhibit of modern life.
Making ‘the wall’ honors the guests at DGs.  A painting or photograph might stay up for years.  Or six months.  There is a mild competition for space.

Honor System

Some honor us with their presence, some with their absence. Not everyone at the B & B is good company.  You’d think they’d be, but sometimes you let the wrong ones in the door.  When that happens the voice of Dr. Jack Ramsey fills the air,
“Great teams win games they ought to lose; bad teams [...]

The Dead

It’s not the destination, it’s the journey to The Dead show that matters, but it’s the ride home that counts.

What To Do

Most road side motels are set up for the weary traveler to stop and crash before they crash and stop.  DG’s B&B is just the opposite.  It is a destination.  More than that it is a prime location.

What To See

DG’s B&B has a front yard brimming over with the vast plant life of the Northwest and then some.  You’ll even find a tulip tree in an Oregon version of an English garden.
What makes it work are the two English ladies who constantly tend it.
Lifting the view to across the street shows a series of four foot block walls [...]

Green

The yearly cycle around the B&B begins and ends with the pin oak on the corner.  Dead leaves linger until cast off by new sprouts.  The leaves bond with the fence and plants.  A hundred mile an hour blower can’t move them.  It’s hand pick one by one.

B&B Rule 1

Talk.  Tell about yourself.  They’ve learned how to make people talk at DG’s B&B without using jumper cables or water boarding.  They use the sauna.  One hundred eighty degrees.  It’s voluntary and things come out.
A woman visiting from Germany loved the sauna.  She sat up in the corner and soaked it all in.  One night [...]

Breakfast

The breakfast part of the B & B is easy.  Cook a few eggs, toast some bread, make some coffee, and leave it on the counter.  The guests figure out the rest.
The couple in the Learning Room haven’t stopped.
The woman, “The district is low balling on math.  The new system doesn’t get kids ready for [...]
